A hobby that wouldn’t stay one.
We started farming fourteen years ago, as a hobby. Somehow, it became a business: an aquaponics greenhouse, selling produce straight to the people who ate it.
Then a typhoon wiped out five years of hard work. We raised the money and rebuilt — differently this time: our own engineering team, our own technology, an indoor vertical farm. Our customers became businesses — buying both the produce and the technology behind it.
Now we’re taking what we built indoors to growers in the open field — starting in Salinas.

We had the farm. The tools caught up.
We run our own farm, so we know the grower’s challenges from the inside — daily operations, cultivation, selling the crop.
And the tools finally arrived. 3D printing and prototyping have become fast and dependable. AI has become capable, reliable, and within reach. We’d spent years building our own products, with the manufacturing and supplier relationships to match. It was time.
We chose Salinas on purpose: progressive growers, a community that backs its own, and Silicon Valley’s tech interest an hour up the road.

We build in public, develop with growers, and make changes in real time — in the field, mid-season, while they still matter.
Traditional hardware development runs the other way: years of closed design, one launch, and no room to change what’s shipped. It fails on cost, on time, and on its own limits. We’d rather keep improving out in the open.

We offer internships to local students, and we’re open-sourcing pieces of our work as they mature — starting with Ollidar, a tool born on our farm robots that turns a cheap 2D lidar into a 3D scanner, using the phone already in your pocket.
An intern here builds things that run in a real field, immediately — and learns how technology and agriculture move hand in hand, why the human stays in the loop, and what farming actually asks of the people who do it. It opens doors for their careers — and gives the industry people fluent in both.
