Franky, Agtom's rover prototype, over a strawberry bed during a daytime survey pass.
FRANKY · THE ROVER
BEAT 02

Learning to walk the rows.

A rover built to carry the cameras down every row, so one grower’s reach covers the whole block — scouting first; keeping watch, treating and spraying as it learns.

LEARNING — PROTOTYPE, BUILDING IN PUBLIC

Green is running on the block today. Amber is what we’re building — in public.

What it is

Franky carries the senses; Mickey does the reading. A rover prototype built in-house, learning one loop: survey by day, treat by night, decide in between. Built in commercial fields, with the people who run them.

The full-size Franky rig — aluminium gantry, drive wheels and payload deck.
What Franky is learningFIVE USE CASES · ONE ASSEMBLY, OPENED
  1. 01 · Scouting

    Survey by day.

The cameras ride the rows: plant-by-plant imaging passes; anything off is logged as a point of interest for a person to check. NDVI runs live at thirty frames a second.

    LEARNING
The twin-camera gimbal and sensor pucks on top of the Nano shell.
    THE TWIN-CAMERA GIMBAL
  2. 02 · Farm security

    Learning to keep watch.

Presence on the block between passes. The same cameras that read the rows, learning to flag what doesn’t belong — logged with a timestamp, checked by a person.

    AHEAD

  3. 03 · Spot treatment

Treat by night — the roadmap.

The night shift is the point: returning to the day’s flags with interchangeable modules. Design intent, shipped at the grower’s pace.

    AHEAD
Nano Franky, three-quarter view — gimbal, sensor pod and antenna above the wheel arches.

  4. 04 · Spraying

    Payload follows the flags.

Not the whole block — the rows the day shift flagged, row by row. Nothing reaches the crop without a person signing the plan.

  5. 05 · Pest detection & deterrence

Find it small, answer it small.

Pest trouble found while it’s still small — and answered at the same size. Detection and deterrence, learning together; a person decides what happens next.

What changes for the growerON FOOT → WITH A ROVER LEARNING THE ROWS

The daily walk, without the walking: every row visited, every plant looked at, and a person deciding what it means.

Detection
ON FOOT

Trouble waits for someone to walk that row.

WITH A ROVER LEARNING THE ROWS

Learning to walk every row, so the small thing gets found small.

Water & feed
ON FOOT

Uniformity gets checked at the head and the tail, if at all.

WITH A ROVER LEARNING THE ROWS

Learning to check every line it passes, every pass.

Proof of work
ON FOOT

Fine, as far as anyone walked.

WITH A ROVER LEARNING THE ROWS

Learning to keep a dated frame of every row — so “fine” has a picture.

Capacity
ON FOOT

One person can’t be in every row.

WITH A ROVER LEARNING THE ROWS

The walk is what it’s learning. The call stays yours.

What it does
01 ·

Why a ground rover.

The wind that grounds aerial tools is the wind Franky ignores. The machine loop never touches the crop — nothing reaches the field without a person.

02 ·

What it carries.

The senses: cameras and probes from Agtom's sensing stack.

Franky is a prototype. If you’d like it to try a few rows on your block, say so — at your pace, with a person on hand.
