Act II · The water line

Follow the water.

From here, the housing is glass. Five instruments sit on the path from one end of the tape to the other.

C01 · Quick connectors

It starts with a click.

Two quick connectors, one on each side of the body. The drip tape you already run passes straight through.

The line comes in one side and leaves the other — everything the station measures happens in the stretch between.

C02 · Water flow meter

Water, on the record.

A flow meter inside the body, sitting on the water path itself.

Every irrigation is metered as it happens — what went on, and when, logged against the block instead of estimated after.

C03 · Pressure sensor

Trouble shows here first.

A slow drop is a leak. A spike is a blockage. A flatline is a pump that never started — pressure names the problem while it’s still small.

C04 · EC sensor

What the water carries.

An EC sensor in the path, reading conductivity as the water passes.

Conductivity tracks what’s dissolved — so the feed that actually went out is a reading, not a recipe.

The line breathes here.

An air-lock valve at the very top of the water column.

Air leaves the line at start-up and relief comes at shutdown — the quiet part that keeps tape whole and readings honest.

A brain that’s already proven.

The ADAMS controller, built into the body — the same station hardware Agtom already runs in the open field.

It reads every sensor in the box, keeps the record, and sends it home.

C09 · Battery

Night shift, covered.

Six cells, stacked behind the water column.

Charged by the panel by day, carrying the station through the dark. Autonomy figures get published when they’re measured — not before.

C10 · Solar panel plugs

Sun in, station on.

Weatherproof plugs on the body for a solar panel.

The panel clicks in and the pack charges — no line power, no generator runs, nothing pulled across the field.

C11 · Wifi antenna

It phones home by itself.

A full-height antenna, sealed inside the housing — nothing outside to snag or snap.

Readings leave the field over the air, to the same place the rest of Agtom reports — off the box before you’re back at the truck.

The soil gets a say.

Three probe ports below the body, cabled to sensors set down in the root zone.

One body at the tape.

The wiring that used to hang around the install is factory-made and sealed. Fewer joins to fail, less to snag a boot on, one hole to dig instead of a harness to build — and everything the water line says, said from one body.
